Footloose on the Neuse: Tribute Concerts by the River
- August 8, 7:30 PM — On The Border: The Ultimate Eagles Tribute
- August 29, 7:30 PM — REV ON: The Foreigner Experience
These free concerts at Union Point Park bring iconic rock tunes to the riverfront under the stars. Great for picnic rugs, music lovers, and community spirit.
History Comes Alive: 18th‑Century & New Bern Resolves Events
- August 16 — 18th‑Century Time Travelers’ Tour at Tryon Palace. Travel back in time exploring colonial life and stories behind modern shows like Outlander and Bridgerton.
- August 23, 9 AM–11 AM — 251st Anniversary of the New Bern Resolves. A parade, ceremony, and procession at Tryon Palace commemorating America’s first Provincial Congress. Guests may register or watch via Zoom.
Suggested Itinerary for a Weekend in August While Visiting
- Friday Night: ArtWalk is a free self-guided walk to over 30 different stops in the downtown New Bern area to visit stores and galleries and see everything New Bern has to offer. Artwalk is every 2nd Friday of the month from 5 – 8 pm.
- Saturday Morning: Stroll down to the Farmers’ Market — you might even see some alpacas!
- Saturday Afternoon: Wander the downtown, grab lunch, take a tour in the many galleries and artists studios downtown, or take a stroll through Tryon Palace gardens.
- Evening: Head to Union Point Park for Footloose on the Neuse August 8 & 29. Go on a sunset boat tour with Cruise the Neuse.
- Late evening: Stop into Baxter’s 1892 for cocktails, tapas, and live jazz in a historic setting.
