1 pound bulk sausage
1 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese
½ cup unseasoned bread crumbs (or make your own with 4 slices of toasted bread)
2 small Granny apples (unpeeled), cored and cut into bite size pieces.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Mix all ingredients. Using an ice cream scoop or by hand, form mixture into 2 inch balls. Put sausage balls on a greased rimmed baking sheet and bake for 30-45 minutes, until done.
Note: This recipe can be prepared ahead and frozen. To freeze, put baked sausage balls on a baking sheet pan and partially freeze them, then seal in a freezer bag, store in the freezer and reheat as needed.
